WE ARE...

Every great story has a beginning, and ours started with a bold dream and a shared promise. In 2007, Toshika Johnson-Smith, Johnny Evans, and Janet Conner-Knox came together with a clear purpose: to build a stage that belonged to the people. We didn’t just want to put on shows; we wanted to create a "living history" for Wilson, a non-profit home where talent could grow, opportunities were open to all, and collaboration was the heartbeat of every production.

The First Curtain Call: November 2007

The very first time the lights went up for Vision Community Theatre Group, it was for a production that perfectly captured our spirit: "Old Men Dream Dreams, Young Men See Visions".

This debut—often remembered as (Brother's Keeper), was a powerful compilation of a short play and skits reflecting the richness of African American life. It set the tone for nearly two decades of storytelling that speaks directly to the heart of our community and encourages us all to share our ideas.

Why We’re Still Here

Fostering Growth: We provide a platform for local voices to find their power. Creating Opportunity: We ensure that the magic of theatre is accessible to everyone in our community. Building Lineage: We honor those who came before us while making room for the stars of tomorrow. From that first performance in 2007 to the vibrant projects we’re working on today, our vision remains the same: to catch the light, share the story, and give back to the community we love.
